Visiting Hours: 10 am – 3 pm daily
The University of New Hampshire Equine Facilities consist of:
- The 40 Stall Tirrell Horse Barn, turnout and pasture facilities
- The W.C. Skoglund indoor riding arena (160 ft x 90 ft)
- A lighted outdoor riding arena (174 ft x 78 ft)
- Three regulation-size dressage competition arenas
- A USEA-recognized combined training competition course for beginner novice through preliminary riders
- The Lou & Lutza Smith Equine Center, which houses boarding horses. The building also includes laboratory and artificial insemination rooms as well as classrooms, conference space and student housing.
On-site classrooms and conference space
Large groups of 8 or more are asked to schedule an appointment prior to visiting by contacting Erin Morgan-Paugh, erin.morganpaugh@unh.edu.
Two equine student apartments are available at the UNH stable. Students work independently, gaining a vast amount of transferable knowledge of horse care and behavior while reporting to the Equine Facilities Manager. The opportunity to learn about the operation of a large stable while attending UNH is a unique feature of the program. For more information, email erin.morganpaugh@unh.edu.
