Though the use of acoustic telemetry, I am investigating the fine-scale movements of Jonah crabs. In addition to generating baseline movement metric data for Jonah crabs, I am assessing the impacts of claw removal as a sustainable fishery practice for Jonah crabs. More specifically, I am qualifying the impacts of claw removal in Jonah crabs as they pertain to movement behavior (by using hidden Markov models ) and basic movement metrics.
