Sarah Proctor

As a veterinarian Sarah has worked with cats, dogs, horses, cows, goats, sheep, llamas, pigs, rabbits, ferrets and other small animals. She coordinates and teaches in the UNH Veterinary Technology program, and has worked with pre-vet students on independent research projects.

Her passion for shelter medicine and caring for underserved pets and clients is evident in her work developing the PAWS Veterinary Teaching Clinic here at UNH, which serves low-income pet owners while teaching veterinary technology students. In addition to teaching, she practices medicine and surgery at the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Cocheco Valley in Dover, NH. Sarah also serves as an advisor to the NH Federation of Humane Organizations, which comprise the largest animal shelters in the state. Sarah has supported efforts to improve animal welfare in her work with state and national organizations including work as an attending veterinarian in the seizure and prosecution of over 80 Great Dane dogs in Wolfeboro, NH.

Sarah recently completed a certificate in Fear-free veterinary training and is applying that knowledge to her work with students, clients, and patients in the PAWS Veterinary Clinic. She received the TSAS Excellence in Teaching award in both 2013 and 2019.
