Taylor Gagne graduated from UNH in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior and a minor in Classics. He is now attending medical school.

COLSA: Why did you choose UNH?

Taylor Gagne: I was born and raised in New Hampshire and with a desire to establish my career in the Greater Boston area, so it made sense to attend UNH. I hadn't planned to attend college directly out of high school, but I had a change of heart and UNH accepted me for the spring semester following my high school graduation.

COLSA: Which medical school are you attending?

Taylor: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Elmira, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

COLSA: How did UNH prepare you to achieve your goals?

Taylor: The University of New Hampshire offered various channels for support, from the pre-professional health program and advisors to the Hamel Honors and Scholars program to academic advisors and educational faculty, that helped me realize my goals and take the proper steps towards achieving them.

Along with that, the facilities and experiences available at UNH allowed me to develop a prerequisite portfolio that made me a competitive applicant for medical school. Furthermore, the education I received while at UNH was high quality and adequately prepared me for the subject matter I am currently studying, putting me at an advantage compared to my current peers.

COLSA: Is there anything you think a prospective students interested in a professional health graduate program should know about UNH?

Taylor: While UNH has the resources necessary to achieve a spot in even the most competitive professional health graduate programs, it is ultimately the attitude of the student that dictates if they will be successful. To get into and succeed in these programs, one must be willing to dedicate themselves to developing the proper experience and knowledge base while discovering the passion that will fuel them on this journey.
