Matthew Gough is a zoology major from Wrentham, Massachusetts. He is also a member of COLSA’s student ambassador team.
COLSA: Why did you choose UNH?
Matthew Gough: I chose UNH for the research opportunities and the perfect college atmosphere. I felt as though it was the perfect size with the best professors, classes and the nicest students.
COLSA: What is your major and what do you love about it?
Matthew: My major is zoology, and I love all the classes I have taken and the connections with professors I have made along the way. I also love the labs and the opportunities that have presented themselves, like Alpha Chi Sigma [the professional co-ed chemistry fraternity] and the COLSA Ambassador position.
COLSA: What's the best academic experience you've had at UNH?
Matthew: Passing all of my chemistry classes!
COLSA: What's the best experience you've had at UNH outside the classroom/lab?
Matthew: Meeting my friends and going to all of the sporting events.
COLSA: How is UNH preparing you to achieve your goals?
Matthew: Taking all these courses in many different fields allowed me to decide what I like and what I don't like in terms of topics/areas of study. I’ve also learned to work well with many different peers.
COLSA: What should prospective students know about UNH?
Matthew: While still a pretty big school, you make so many friends/connections/memories you won't forget. There are tons of clubs and orgs to join along the way.
