Marley is a PhD student whose research focuses on phytoplankton and bacterial community networks in estuarine and saltmarsh systems. She is interested in understanding how phytoplankton community composition changes in concert with other microbes, and how those changes relate to carbon cycling and other ecosystem functions. Her work focuses on combining molecular techniques and bioinformatics with biological oceanography techniques like chlorophyll a analysis and flow cytometry.
