Katelyn Young: I loved the accelerated nature of the program and the flexibility in the course options. It made it easy to tailor my coursework to align with my career goals.
Katelyn: I originally chose UNH because of its close-knit community and the beautiful campus. I completed my undergraduate degree at UNH in the nutrition: dietetics program and was drawn to the MS in nutrition at UNH because of the accelerated nature of the program, which allowed me to start my master’s coursework in my last year of undergrad. The support I received from faculty and the community around me were also huge factors that made me want to complete my masters at UNH, too.
"The support I’ve received from the faculty has been unmatched. [T]hey all want to help and see you succeed."
Katelyn: I feel like the in-person learning experience of this program has taken the quality of my education to a higher level. The in-person nature of the program really promotes discussion and teaches you to critically think about current problems. Being in-person also gives you the ability to make more connections with faculty, your cohort, as well as interdisciplinary cohorts.
I feel like I am a much more reserved person, so being in a setting like this has set me up for greater success. I don’t think I would have gone out of my way to talk to others or or taken advantage of the opportunities I have without having been in-person.
Katelyn: The support I’ve received from the faculty has been unmatched. The faculty at UNH teach practical skills that I know I will use for the rest of my career. Each of the faculty members has their own unique specialties and experiences that span across the field, so regardless of your interests there is likely always someone you can connect with, and they all want to help and see you succeed.
The mentorship I have also received from the faculty has not only helped me navigate my interests and my options, but they have helped me attain work and volunteer opportunities I could not have imagined coming close to without their support.
Katelyn: The MS in Nutrition program offers a number of courses that allow students to customize their education based on their interests. While I took classes such as Research Methods and Nutritional Epidemiology to enhance my knowledge and skills in research, I was also able to take classes that were more clinically focused which will help me as I move on to complete clinical rotations during my dietetic internship.
