Figs That Survive New England Winters

Fig trees require special care for overwintering: growing them in pots to bring indoors or providing additional protection like winter blankets and high tunnels. We are testing different winter protection strategies and comparing varieties to help NH farmers and gardeners enjoy this delectable fruit. Fig plants are propagated at the Macfarlane Research Greenhouses before moving to the Woodman Horticultural Research Farm in the spring. Learn more
