Thriving in strong, supportive community of the nutrition and dietetics grad program
UNH nutrition and dietetics graduate student Elizabeth Barton poses by stone wall

Elizabeth Barton ‘25G is a graduate student in COLSA’s nutrition and dietetics M.S. with dietetic internship (MSDI). The St. Louis, Missouri native earned her B.S. in dietetics, nutrition and food science from the University of Vermont in 2023.

COLSA: What do you love about the MSDI program?

Elizabeth Barton: I love the size of our cohort and how open communication is with our program director. I feel like I have a great support system, and it has truly helped me grow so much more than I could have imagined.

COLSA: Why did you choose UNH?

Elizabeth: I chose UNH because during the program open house and interview I felt like there was such a strong sense of community and support. There wasn’t just emphasis on skill building experiences that I would have, they told me how I was going to be supported and build connections, and that made entering grad school for the first time a lot less nerve wracking.

COLSA: What do you plan to do with your degree, and how has your experience been customized based on your career goals?

Elizabeth: I hope to become a registered dietitian and work clinically, eventually in a NICU. I was able to take nutrition for children with special healthcare needs my first semester. The course gave me great exposure to that side of nutrition care.
