COLSA: Why did you choose UNH?

Dominick Tavares: I chose UNH for many reasons. I loved the layout of the campus, the location and the plethora of opportunities that are available. There are so many clubs and extracurricular activities that anyone can easily find one to join that's related to a subject that they're passionate about.

COLSA: What's your major and what makes it so interesting to you?

Dominick: I'm a nutrition student in the dietetics option. While it may sound cliche, you really ARE what you eat. Whether that comes to sports performance, regulating blood glucose or managing nutritional diseases, being aware of what you eat and ensuring that you get the nutrients that your body requires plays a crucial role in prioritizing health.

COLSA: During your time at UNH, what are you most proud of?

Dominick: I have been able to participate in research as an undergrad and using the knowledge and skills that I have obtained I will be well-equipped to conduct my honors thesis next year.

COLSA: What are you planning to do after graduation?

Dominick: After graduation, I plan on going to graduate school to obtain a master's degree in sports nutrition and exercise science. I plan on pairing the graduate program with a dietetic internship.

COLSA: What do you love most about UNH?

Dominick: I love the ability to meet and interact with so many people. I also love how beautiful the campus is. It never gets old to play sports on Thompson Hall lawn or lounge in a hammock. There are so many areas to explore.

COLSA: Have you ever received any UNH scholarships/grants/awards, and if yes, which ones(s)?

Dominick: Charles F. Marble Scholar scholarship, Frank S. Lord Scholarship, AS O. Hubbard UG scholarship, UNH resident tuition grant, Director's scholarship
