Animal Science (B.S.) Spotlight

Ecology, sustainability, and environmental science were the focus of a special visit by EcoQuest’s international students to the Ramsar wetland at Pūkorokoro Miranda on 28 October 2022.

Madison McEachern is an animal science major who recently won $1,000 from the UNH Entrepreneurial Center’s i2 Passport Program, which encourages the development of innovative ideas and entrepreneurship and rewards students with prizes to help with loans and tuition.

Four UNH dairy science students and Prof. Pete Erickson recently attended the 2019 American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) annual meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 2021, the UNH Sustainability Institute launched the UNH Sustainability Awards, which recognizes activities and achievements that best embody the principles and practices of sustainability.

For Jessica Fury ‘19, an animal science major and Groveton, NH native, graduation will mean saying goodbye to her beloved Jersey cows at the UNH Organic Dairy, but it also means a new opportunity to care for some special creatures in Jefferson, NH.

Kaitlyn LeClair ’19 rode Morgan horses for 10 years before she arrived at UNH and discovered her love of the breed displaced by a new interest: cows.

This well-rounded student from Boston is will be graduating with her associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology in May and entering COLSA's four-year Animal Science program in the fall. 

Casey Sturzo ’19 didn’t need to go far to find a life-changing college experience: 10 miles, to be exact. But for the senior animal science major from Epping, New Hampshire, the distance made the difference.
