Mary Wiley
I graduated Mount Ida College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology. Shortly thereafter I passed the Veterinary Technician National Examination to become a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT). In 2012, after an extremely rigorous application process, I passed the board examination to become a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) with the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Clinical Practice (AVTCP). My first passion was emergency medicine, and prior to teaching I worked full time at the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester for many years. The field of Veterinary Nursing is an extremely young profession, and I love introducing the students to this fascinating, evolving career. Students within the Veterinary Technology program have the unique opportunity to be an active participant in the evolution of their field. I feel my extensive clinical background helps my students actively relate to the content being learned.
I love the outdoors, anything to do with being outside, and of course-the field of Veterinary Nursing! Along with my teaching responsibilities, I do extensive volunteer work with the New Hampshire Veterinary Technician Association and the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Clinical Practice. In addition, I am affiliated with the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, and the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators. My husband and I have two young children and I am actively involved with their schools and various sporting activities (football, soccer, and field hockey). My family also consists of "Willow" our lovable Akita, and "Remus Sebastian", our new Boxer puppy who is full of mischief and keeps everyone on their toes!
