Sophie's research topic is yet to be chosen, she plans to research how anthropogenic effects will alter organism physiology, energy allocation, and ecological dynamics in rocky intertidal ecosystems. Sophie may further develop her prior research on blue mussel phenotypic plasticity, investigating how temperature and ocean acidification interact with the effects of invasive species on the blue mussel and other shelled invertebrates. Through this work, she hopes to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted threats faced by intertidal organisms, and how the impacts of these threats will radiate outward through altered organism interactions.
