Ramesh Jayakumar graduated in 2024 with a degree in Biotechnology from PSG College of Arts & Science. He is currently pursuing a master’s in molecular and cellular biotechnology at UNH.

COLSA: What do you love about the program?

Ramesh: The professors' experience and support in advancing our careers are remarkable. They push us to excel, and the structured curriculum deepens our understanding of both fundamental and advanced biological principles.

COLSA: Why did you choose UNH?

Ramesh: I was attracted to UNH’s research activity and status as an R1 University. The availability of cutting-edge instrumentation, bioinformatics tools and biological resources perfectly aligns with my research-oriented studies.

COLSA: Can you describe your in-person learning experience?

Ramesh: I like the fast-paced classes and competitive students who always keep the place active. I consider myself a seedling sprouting from a highly rich knowledge field, which has a positive impact on my career.

COLSA: How has the faculty mentoring shaped your experience?

Ramesh: The faculty help sculpt my lab skills and deepen my biological knowledge. Some professors, with twice my life experience, share their knowledge daily, enhancing my learning experience.

COLSA: How has your program been tailored to your career goals?

Ramesh: From day one, the master’s program has been helping me pursue my career goals and more!

COLSA: What are your career plans post-graduation?

Ramesh: I aim to join the R&D sector of the pharmaceutical industry. I am passionate about contributing to drug discovery and development, hoping to make significant advancements in the field.

COLSA: Share something fun or interesting about yourself?

Ramesh: UNH is beautiful in every season, and I like to be active in different ways here. I work at Philbrook's Cafe, play on the soccer team and participate in the chess club.
