Jill is exploring how acoustic behavior shifts in response to environmental variation, aiming to balance the needs of people, wildlife, and ecosystems. She works across tropical and temperate marine systems, analyzing complex datasets to better understand and mitigate human–wildlife conflicts at multiple scales. Her projects range from restoration ecology in hurricane-impacted mangroves in the British Virgin Islands to interactions between harbor porpoises and human activities in the Gulf of Maine. By combining passive acoustic monitoring, spatial modeling, and machine learning, she produces actionable insights for managing species and habitats facing increasing environmental pressures.
