Leah Smutko

My background rests heavily on my love of being in the kitchen. As a culinary lecturer, my goals are to help students in all facets of the food system understand how to better prepare the food they are working with. My Master's research was centered around the integration of culinary arts into sustainability and dietetic coursework. I have run a non-profit restaurant in Montana, cooked for those with eating disorders, and dedicate much of my efforts towards participating in local food systems. It is a tightly held notion that the experience of food goes well beyond just its nutritious makeup. I am eager to bring students into the story of their food.
