Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) - General Information
When students enter the Nutrition Program as a first-year student, they will be designated as Nutrition (no option chosen) for their entire first academic year. By September 15th of their sophomore year, students must select an option (Nutritional Sciences, Nutrition and Wellness, or Dietetics). Students who select the Dietetics Option must complete a formal application and be selected by faculty for admission.
Minimum Application Criteria for Dietetics Option
- Overall GPA of 3.2 or better
- Completion at application time of the following courses and acceptable grade in each:

Formal Application Process
- Applications are reviewd twice a year; the deadlines are February 15th or September 15th
- Applications will include an essay (500 words or less) describing why they wish to enter the Dietetics Option and an unofficial transcript
- All applications will be reviewed by the Director and Associate DPD Director
- Notification of acceptance will occur March 15th and October 15th, respectively
Other Information
- Admission into the Dietetics Option is a competitive process with a limited number of placements. Meeting all admission criteria does not guarantee placement
- Any student’s application with a question of admission will be reviewed by the entire faculty to determine admission status
- Once accepted into the Dietetics Option, students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.2. Students who fall below a 3.2 will be placed on probation for a semester. If the GPA does not improve to a 3.2 or better, the student will forfeit their spot in the program
