Research Topic: Noise impacts on animal behavior

I am researching noise impacts on animal behavior, using house cricket, Acheta domesticus, as a model. I will be exposing crickets to airborne noise (sound), substrate borne noise (vibration), and multimodal noise (Sound and vibration simultaneously). I will look at how these different forms of noise affect their circadian rhythms, and male calling behavior. The effects of anthropogenic noise on animals is a growing field, and I hope my research will lead to a better understanding on how humans are impacting insects.
