About our Department

Members of the Department of Biological Sciences study aspects of the evolutionary, molecular, physiological, genetic, ecological, and behavioral biology of a variety of plants and animals. This scientific and biological diversity offers rich research opportunities for DBS students and faculty. Our work involves terrestrial, freshwater, estuarine, and marine ecosystems, and takes advantage of UNH’s extensive network of research and teaching facilities, including marine and estuarine labs, woodlands, farms, and greenhouses. Research in DBS ranges from basic to applied biology both locally and around the world. Our faculty work with graduate and undergraduate students in research laboratories, classrooms, and in the field, which prepares students well for a diversity of careers.

We welcome you to join us in our research explorations and discoveries.
