Research Topic: The economic and ecological outcomes of timber stand improvement.
My research focuses on the outcomes of conducting timber stand improvement in New England forests. There is always a cost input for silvicultural treatments of forest lands. Timber stand improvement is one of those treatments, and it is intended to enhance future growth of a young forest. But does it actually pay to conduct this treatment in New Hampshire? I will be analyzing not only the value of the timber from a TSI treated forest but also the ecosystem services they provide, such as carbon sequestration and wildlife opportunities, to answer this question.
