Research Topic: Estimating forest biodiversity using remote sensing imagery
The accuracy of estimating forest biodiversity using remote sensing is being assessed with the use of areal imagery and tree species inventory data. This research uses the inventory data to quantify measures of species diversity as well as other forms of diversity, such as canopy structure and functional diversity. These diversity metrics that can be measured on the ground are then compared with fine-scale areal images to test the validity of estimating these metrics remotely.
