Biotechnology

Histopathology

The NHVDL provides diagnostic services and consultation to support the growing number of biotechnology companies throughout the state.  This often includes pathology consultation, histology slide production, and bacterial identifications.  The lab staff also work closely with the UNH Animal Resource Office (ARO),  the UNH Instrumentation Center (UIC) and the UNH Hubbard Center for Genome Studies (HCGS)

NHVDL Generated Research

Staff at the NHVDL initiate their own grant-funded research as well in areas of animal health, agriculture, & wildlife disease.  The lab also investigates newly discovered emergent pathogens and outbreaks, initially diagnosed from our routine clinical case submissions.  Research in veterinary diagnostic labs provides valuable knowledge to the field of veterinary medicine and further leads to improved animal and human health.

Aquaculture

With boarded pathologists who also specialize in aquatic species, the lab provides diagnostic pathology services to aquaculture clients for disease diagnosis in fin and shellfish species.   Additionally, these clients are able to contract with our lab for histologic slide production services if they wish to utilize their own pathologists.   These histology services are available with bulk contract pricing.

NH Agriculture Experiment Station

As part of the UNH Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) the laboratory provides diagnostic testing and support for the research farms and contributes to the university's outreach and service missions.
