COLSA: What do you love about the Nutrition M.S. program at UNH?

Grace Tomann: I love the program because of the people and how welcoming the faculty/staf, and my peers have been. All of the events for graduate nutrition students are so generous and engaging and make the program feel extremely tight knit.

COLSA: Why did you choose UNH?

Grace: I chose UNH because ever since I stepped foot on campus as a visiting high school student it felt like home.

COLSA: How would you describe the in-person learning experience and its impact on the quality of your education?

Grace: In-person learning has been so valuable to engage with my professors who are all experts in their fields. I personally love the passion and connectedness to the content that the nutrition faculty demonstrates.

COLSA: How have the teaching, training, and one-on-one mentoring by faculty benefited you?

Grace: The ability to build strong interpersonal and professional relationships has been the most important part of the mentoring in my program. The faculty are very supportive, and when you have the opportunity to engage one-on-one each day it allows for a clear and respectful relationship to form.

COLSA: How has your experience been customized based on your career goals?

Grace: A lot of the faculty helped me in engaging in research and provided me with contacts to alumni who have moved on to medical school from the nutrition program. The customization of the material delivered to me also helped with learning my strengths and weaknesses regarding nutrition when meeting with my mentors.
