My lab focuses on state-of-the-art research with cost-efficient modern disease diagnostic methods across a range of crops. We research on applied epidemiology of major pathogens in vegetable, fruit, and ornaments crops. We use standard and advanced molecular tools for understanding plant-microbe interactions and sustainable diseases management. We implement statewide major plant disease surveys to detect and quantify disease risks while also providing molecular characterization of newly reported plant pathogens. We also develop, optimize and implement methods for operational fungicides (DMI, QoI, SDHI, etc.) resistance evaluation and their underlying mechanisms of fungicide resistance. Our extension efforts are dedicated to addressing stakeholder needs and providing appropriate information for multiple stakeholders in a timely manner.
