Environmental Horticulture Minor

A minor in environmental horticulture is designed to provide a flexible and broad selection of applied horticulture courses to complement any other major area of study. A MINIMUM OF 20 CREDITS IS REQUIRED. A minimum grade of C- is required for all minor courses

SAFS 421, Introductory Horticulture (4 cr) is the core course required.  

An additional 16 credits should be selected from the courses listed below:

BIOL 409, Introductory Botany (4 cr)
BIOL 566, Systematic Botany (4 cr)
HT 404, Plant Propagation (4 cr)
SAFS 405, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Production (4 cr)
SAFS 410, Taste of the Tropics (4 cr)
SAFS 601, Fruit Crop Production (4 cr)
SAFS 632, Urban Agriculture (4 cr)
SAFS 651, Plant Pathology (4 cr)
SAFS 679 or 680, Food Production Field Experience (4 cr each)
SAFS 689, Greenhouse Management and Operation (4 cr)
SAFS 760, Insect Pest Management (4 cr)
SAFS 795, Investigations (Horticuture related topics)

Certification of Minor
During the student's final semester, an application should be made to the COLSA dean's office to have the minor shown on the academic transcript. The student should fill out a Certification of Completion of Minor form and obtain the signatures of the student's major adviser, minor adviser, and the COLSA dean's office.
