Pre-Veterinary Medicine Program
There is no single academic program that is ideal for all pre-vet students. Rather, there are multiple opportunities to prepare yourself academically for a career in veterinary medicine. The majority of UNH students accepted into veterinary school have pursued academic programs in COLSA such as animal science, medical and veterinary science, biology, equine studies or zoology, although any academic program that includes the prerequisite courses can be considered. There also are opportunities for dual majors, minors and other combined programs, which can be designed to match your career goals. Our committed faculty advisors assist students through the entire process of selecting courses, exploring professional options and applying to veterinary schools.
Pre-Professional Health Programs Advising
The University Advising Center offers advising to students and alumni interested in pursuing careers in the health-care industry. The Pre-Professional Health Program is an intention and a commitment. Students of any major may be “pre-health” by:
- Completing the prerequisite coursework
- Registering with our office by signing up for our email list
- Gaining the volunteer and health-care experience necessary for admission
- Preparing to take the required entrance exam (MCAT, DAT, PCAT, OAT, etc.)
