Research Topic: Population Genetic Structure of Striped Bass
My research focuses on characterizing the population genetic structure of striped bass (Morone saxatilis) within their migratory range from North Carolina to the Canadian Maritimes. Whereas previous studies have done this using microsatellite and mitochondrial markers in the major spawning grounds of the Chesapeake Bay and Hudson River, I am going to be using next-generation sequencing techniques to characterize the structure in multiple spawning locations. I am also developing a SNP panel that can be used for mixed stock analyses of striped bass.
