Description of Current Research and/or Professional Activities:

The majority of my work is as a diagnostic pathologist at the NHVDL, where the biopsy and necropsy service includes specimens from domesticated animals, wildlife, zoo animals, and laboratory animals. Being a diagnostic pathologist, my interests are broad and my research projects are dictated by the varied caseload at the NHVDL. The projects that I find most exciting involve novel diseases or lesions that I encounter in my clinical work. This interest in combination with the NHVDL’s strong presence in domestic and regional wildlife and zoological pathology has resulted in a particular interest in emerging infectious diseases in animals. I also enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with principle investigators that use animal models of disease.
