Major/Graduating Year: Therapeutic Riding, 2018

Riding Experience: I've been riding horses since I was 10. I got my first horse 3 years ago and we've done everything! He loves to jump, but due to his age we've been doing less jumping and focusing on dressage work.

Why I like IDA: I love the chance to improve my riding by riding many different horses. I also love how IDA is a group of riders that compete together and support each other!

Major/ graduating year: Equine Industry and management/ May 2016

Riding experience: I grew up riding hunters and jumpers at a small horse farm in New Jersey. I only started focusing on dressage and eventing once I came to UNH and I am looking forward to competing in both classical dressage and eventing in the future.

Why you like IDA: I am excited to meet new people, learn more about dressage, ride new horses, and have the opportunity to compete in a fun and supportive environment

Major/graduating year: Equine Science, 2017

Riding experience: I have been riding for over 15 years now, with a background in primarily dressage and recently eventing. Over the past five years I became more into eventing and have been competing at Novice level in local schooling shows, while taking dressage lessons on a regular basis to improve my dressage skills. A year ago I bought my first horse Georgie, who I am teaching dressage to and hoping to turn into my new eventing partner. I hope to continue improving in all disciplines of riding so I can be a successful upper level eventer and eventually use my knowledge to teach others to grow and learn with horses in a future equine career.

Why you like Ida: IDA is an amazing opportunity to become more adaptable with various horses, and requires you to think fast and trust your instincts when riding, which I love! It’s also awesome to be riding with and learning from so many talented riders on a team in a sport that is usually individual.

Major / graduating year:
Finance & Management, 2017
Riding Background: I've been riding horses for 10 years. Focusing on mostly dressage with some jumping. I've competed dressage for the past 6 years.
Favorite part of IDA: being able to ride a wide range of horses and being able to make what is thought to be an individual sport into a team sport.

Jessica Childs

Major: Biomedical Sciences: Med Vet Sciences 2018
Riding background: I started riding when I was 5 years old when my parents bought our horse farm from my grandparents. Over the years I have ridden most disciplines, but dressage has always been my favorite. My first horse was a little Hackney Pony named Jelly Bean who I was absolutely in love with. When I was 10, I had Ms Chin an off the track Standardbred. My next horse was an Arab cross that I rehabbed. Currently I have an off the track Thoroughbred named Wilson that I have been showing the past 2 years.
Why I like IDA: it's nice to be part of a team that typically is an individual sport. I loved being on high school sports teams and am enjoying being on a team just as much now.

Upper Training

Major / graduating year Equine Studies: Equine Science 2017
Riding background: I've been riding 12 years in a varietyof disciplines, but I began my dressage career in 2012.  Prior to college, I showed exclusively in Colorado so showing in the Northeast region on both the intercollegiate and rated circuits has been a new experience for me.
Favorite thing about IDA: Four years in IDA has really taught me ride from feel rather than expect a hores to go a certain way based on how other riders present them. Every hores has something to teach, and their lessons are often times not lessons we expect.

Major / graduating year: Psychology, 2016
Riding Background: I've been riding for 10 years. Mainly doing lower level eventing. After a back injury that made me take time off from being in the saddle I realized how much I really loved riding and I'm back in the saddle now and riding better than ever.
Favorite thing about IDA: Having the opportunity to ride so many different and unique horses. Also being able to be a member of a team.

Major / graduating year
: Undeclared: 2018
Riding Background: I've been riding since I was 8 years old and shortly after that my parents bought me my first horse, a little quarter horse mare that I still own today. I now have three horses, my quarter horse Grace, an Appaloosa/TB Josie and a Dutch Warmblood Turbo and I have been riding and competing dressage for 7 years. I have qualified for Championships at NEDA Fall the past 4 years competing at training level and first level.
I like IDA because I believe that riding different horses will make me a wellrounded rider and expand my knowledge of horses and riding. I have also wanted to ride at UNH since I was 10 years old.

Skye Finn

Lower Training
Major / graduating year: Equine Studies, Industry and Management 2017
Riding Background: I have been riding since I was seven years old but OBSESSED with horses since I was born. I have grown up in the Hunter/Jumper world and competed in the Hunters, Jumpers, and Equitation rings on both the local and "A" circuits. I have 'officially' been riding dressage since July of 2014 andhave enjoyed learning how to ride my horse to the best of his ability. I currently board my horse, Vinny at UNH and we compete in the Jumpers with an emphasis on Classical Dressage. Feel free to stop by his stall and say Hi!
Why I like IDA: I love the emphasis on making any horse work to the best of their athletic ability. I am looking forward to developing my skills as a rider, and, of course, getting to know my lovely teammates!

Katarina Keller

Katarina Keller
First Level
Major / graduating year: Vet Tech 2016
Riding Background: I've been riding for 13 years and have been riding dressage for all 13 years. I have shown through fourth level and earned my bronze medal in 2014 with my horse Rocky. I love riding a variety of horses because they all have different challenges and personalities that you can learn so much from and increase training tools you have that can then be put toward other horses. I love to spend as much time as I can out at the barn and in the saddle.
Favorite thing about IDA: Getting to be on a team in a sport that doesn't usually have that aspect, and getting to show even when it isn't show season!
